0:00 She can keep in line, everything's fine, you got all that you need, Curry and the Keeper. Yeah, Curry and the Keeper. This is Curry and the Keeper for Tuesday, November 3rd, 2026. Curry and the Keeper. And hello my queen. We took a break. We took a breather. You are still my one and only keeper. Back on the air, back in the chair, still the prettiest keeper anywhere. Hey now. Hey now. Okay. Did ChatGPT or GrokBot or Muse write that?
0:43 Nope. Nope. Really? No. Those three didn't. Cheers, baby. Look at that. We're back. Oh, wait. You got to hold the stem. Oh, sorry. My glass is full. Here. That's because my glass is so full. Let me try it one more time. No. That sucked. Okay, good start. Cheers, baby. Yum. I am drinking the house wine. This is your staple. This is my staple. The Robert Modavi Private Selection Bourbon Barrel-Aged Cabernet Sauvignon from California in 2024. It was a John C. Dvorak recommendation, right? Tip of the day, maybe? I don't know if it's, it might have been a tip of the day.
1:26 Okay, I'm drinking Saratoga Sparkling Carbonated Spring Water. Yay! Yes, because I don't drink that much anymore. It is Tuesday. Yes. Tina's not drinking. The show is no longer on Wednesday, which was really, we'll get into that, why it was hard to do the show Wednesday evening. Now we determine the start time by how early I want to start drinking. Yeah. that's basically like well i was ready at three o'clock tina's like do you really want to drink evenings are fabulous yes we like having our evenings so so where have you been why didn't you want to do the show oh wow our last show was january yes january hold on a second i have it here. I know, but what was the exact date? It was January...
2:20 Yeah, episode 147, January 21st. Yeah, yeah. Man, it's been a while. I know. What happened? What happened to the show? You know, I don't know. I do, I do. What happened? Then why are you asking? Well, to put you on the spot. Okay. Tina's like... This is the exact same. Yes, that's right. I get the feeling nobody's listening. Nobody cares. And part of that was because we became highly irregular. Yes. And with irregularity, as you know, that is my one rule of podcasting, comes destruction. And we pod faded. Pod faded. Yes. It's a good show title.
3:00 Oh, you're not familiar with pod faded? No. I'm familiar with pod. Yeah. Typically pod faded, pod fading happens around episode seven, which is exactly when our original show faded and the new show came into being. Yes. Yeah, I mean, you weren't really motivated and because you weren't motivated, I wasn't motivated. Yes. That's obvious. Yeah. And so it just kind of fell off. And we got a lot of comments and emails of people asking when it was coming back. Yeah, I think this started to kind of bubble inside of you. You're like, well, a lot of people are saying that, you know, where are you? We miss you. We need you.
3:49 I don't know about that. But no, and we'll get into all of this too, with all the changes that have happened in our lives in the last 10 months, God just kept putting it on my heart to start the show again. And I don't know what's changed. I think maybe because we have an audience of one. Maybe that's all that counts. Yes. Right? Yeah. Right. That's a good point. But I wanted to say hello to all our new subscribers because when the last No Agenda newsletter went out, the link to Curry and the Keeper was in that newsletter. And we got a lot of new people. And I just want to say from the get-go, this is not No Agenda in any way, shape, or form. No, it's not.
4:29 Not even close. No. I don't deconstruct anything except the things around this house, like your laundry. Already we're going to the – so for the past 10 months – I think, well, not maybe in the past 10 months, but for the past several months, you've said like, well, you know, all I do is your laundry. Okay, don't even go into that because that's part of my God shot. So don't go into me bemoaning about my empty life. Well, no, I think you have definitely been struggling with purpose. Yes. Yeah. Especially as I'm watching you, you have a completely new life now and work life, I would say.
5:12 Not completely new, but a big, big change, as many people know. No agenda came to a close last Thursday. Yes, well, 50% of the air staff died. Yes, yes. Made the show rather complicated. Yes. Really tried to keep it going, but more just to find a resolution, a way to stop, maybe to keep it going. you know um man people have to realize that and maybe this is a good a lot of couples go through this i'm sure when your spouse um leaves a job or is asked to leave a job um or there's a partnership you know it's like having a divorce within a marriage yes and it affects the entire marriage it affects you know it affects your entire life as you know you're separating from things you're trying to uh in some cases people might be trying to find a new job and you know i basically that was my job no agenda was my job it was the income for our family and i say family in a broad spectrum oh yeah because yeah we got kids on the payroll all three of them are still on the payroll not huge but to an extent you know enough where they kind of still depend on it and you know so there's a responsibility you know of course it's like you want to uh you want to maintain the lifestyle that you maintain and we discovered that we spent a lot of money on lifestyle you did police traveling and entertainment yeah yeah we were very easy with uh you know
6:48 going on vacations and of course they were work vacations because i pretty much always worked yes um and i'm all i love picking up checks for dinner well now we kind of look at people like should we split this yes can you buy us dinner can we come over to your house people are literally like oh we got this we got like adam's unemployed now he has no money but you know as i kept saying to you like my entire life i've always been able to uh to keep things going to generate cash and you know as 1990 i had an event before i knew god and uh he clearly knew me because i had a moment where all financial, everything financial just fell apart.
7:33 And I went through five days of just completely going crazy about what I was going to do. And then boom, a door opened up and things happened. And right away, I was basically saved from financial ruin. And I've been through several different episodes in my life where there was a lot of money and there was no money. It was a little bit of money. And I'm pretty good with just, you know, I've always had enough for whatever I wanted to do or be or spend. And so sometimes you spend less, a lot less. Tina's like, should we get a new Christmas tree? Why don't we get it after Christmas when it's on sale and we'll put it up next year?
8:16 Well, and for me, this has been a challenging season for me personally, too, and required me to really lean into God and my faith and not give in to old strongholds that I'm still healing from, which is my poverty mindset. So you changing your job completely was hard for me at first, very hard. Spiraled a couple times, and then I just kept praying about it. Explain what spiral means. I just want people to know the extent. Well, one of the mornings that you decided, like you know I'm being called to do something else and you know I want to step away from no agenda and I said I we have to sell my car and I'm not gonna be able to get Botox anymore you were like calm down I was inspired I gotta sell my car take back my birthday gift it was always the car yes you took back your birthday gift you've played it off as if you weren't doing it but you did that's right you owe me one I forgot well we'll get to the donation segment in a moment where people can support us for Tina's birthday gift.
9:22 So, but it's been a, it's been a, it has refined me even more, this experience. Me too, yeah. It is entrusting in the Lord and trusting you and trusting me and just being able to just know that there is a plan and we will be perfectly fine. I would say. Even if we have to sell your car. Okay, which I offered. Yes. I would say that this has, first of all, without our faith, dude, I don't know where we would be. We were just talking about this morning that we know somebody who doesn't have a relationship with God, and this person is floundering, just waving in the wind because they are not rooted in their faith or in a relationship with God.
10:06 And that is, yeah, that's what we have, and I'm so grateful for it. I had a scripture for that. Oh? Yeah. You got a list? I actually do have a list, but I just have one scripture. Because you go to the Word every single time. And I actually have a robot called Solomon. And Solomon does one thing. It's find scripture to relate to whatever I put in there. Oh. And it's really good at it. Oh. That's cheating. No, it's not. Yes, it is. You should open your Bible. Well, I do. It's like, give me the scripture. You're not opening a book. Yes, I do. You're telling your robot. No.
10:48 It's okay to say, find the scripture. And he usually finds a bunch of them. He says, this might relate to it. And then I go and I read the scripture. Okay. Does that count? I can't call Pastor Jimmy every single minute of the day. Pastor Jimmy, give me a scripture, man. I need a scripture. And how can anybody know all the different scriptures? And some I do know, obviously. but Ecclesiastes 4, 9-12. Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help, but someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm, but how can one be warm alone?
11:29 A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, and this was important to me, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple braided cord is not easily broken. And that, of course, is Jesus, who is in the middle of our marriage. Well, it was just like my card I gave you. I wrote in the book, I'm standing by your side. I have it here. Yeah, I gave Adam a card on his very last show day with no agenda. I'm not going to read this, this is personal. But it basically said standing by your side. Yes, you are my Proverbs 31. Yeah, you called me that this morning. So what do you got going on now that you don't have seven hours of no agenda a week?
12:14 That's just show time, not prep time. Yeah, first of all. Well, I'm still doing my regular kind of prep, which is results in clips that I listen to just to stay current on what's happening. So can listeners email you and say, Adam, what's going on with this? And you'll give them that to construction. Yeah, and then I'll tell them you can listen to Curry and the Keeper. we get to do this podcasting 2.0 or whatever else you're going to be doing. Yeah. I do write the book is, well, we'll get to that in a moment. Um, I do write the cultural briefing for pastor Jimmy, not every Sunday, but you know, he usually wants it. Uh, and, and so I'm publishing those on my sub stack, which people, I mean, you don't want to talk about, uh, uh, new subscribers.
12:56 I got a lot of subscribers to my sub stack. Really? Yeah. And I never do anything on the sub paying subscribers. Oh, yeah. It's amazing. Well, good we need the money yes for your car your car payments um so pastor jimmy and i had already been doing uh we get to do this for over a year when all this started to come down uh and that was on my heart it's like this is the this is the way this is what you need to do well and we had you had just made the decision that we were going to start publishing a newsletter right before John passed. And so we were, it was in motion to kind of kick this up even more.
13:37 Which is the secret to any good podcast is doing a newsletter because you remind people to listen. You remind people that it's value for value. They have to support it. And, you know, so support always comes in, or I'd say 40% comes in before the show even starts, which is, it's just critical to the value for value model, which we've been living on. This has been our life. And it's been up and down. At a certain point, you stop asking me how were donations because you just didn't want to know because it was stressful yes to you it's like oh they're good am i saying i don't ask donations are good yeah they were good i don't even ask it well now there are none so it's not that problem there's none um and uh you know so uh pastor jimmy and i had discussed you know possibly moving to two times a week and so that became an easy an easy decision because people want it they want you know if the number one piece of feedback i've received on we get to do this is there's a lot of no agenda like uh discussion in there you know about the world about you know god the world and other things but people would always say the same thing when i'm done listening to it i feel better yes i feel happy yes because that is the premise of the show it's like you know first we're believers we know where we're going we know that like this life is just a uh you know an in-between station of where we're all going and man that makes people feel good yeah so we decide to do that you know podcast index you know that's six years now dave and i still usually do the show on friday so you know
15:12 it's the first thing to go if there's a family thing um but that is our contribution to society to podcasting in general. And I think it truly has kept podcasting open and freely available. And I think in this new world of robots and personal AI, it's going to become even more important. The podcast ecosystem as people will literally start creating their own ways to search and find and listen and watch podcasts. And then, you know, currying the keeper is you know people have relationships and they want to hear other people who are honest about it and how sometimes things suck yeah and sometimes things can be super great yeah and you know people want to hear that they're not the only ones dealing with laundry and tissue in your hoodies yes and mints in my pocket and toothpicks toothpicks in the washing You have not seen a toothpick in years.
16:17 No. No, that's not true. I've pulled them out of the washing machine. Recently? Probably less. Definitely since we've done the show in January. Okay, but not in the past few months. I don't know where you're getting them because they're nowhere in our house. You're probably getting them from the restaurants. Hey, you got any toothpicks? Can I take your toothpicks home? It's so amazing, too, because when we're getting ready for bed and you take everything out of your pockets, there are probably 10 mints. Yeah, because I'm afraid they'll leave them in my pocket. This is why the terror, the terror of the keeper is upon me. Why are you carrying around 10 mints? So that when in church you go, or in church you can go, uh, baby, you really need a mint.
17:00 You have done that. The other day you're like, hey, can you go brush your teeth? They smell like cheese. Your mouth smells like cheese. I did not say that Yes you did I said can you just brush your teeth And I go why He goes you smell like cheese That what she said What does it smell like You asked me I said, cheese? It smelled like death warmed over, but I was being kind, and I said, cheese. You know, like, what can I think of? She just had some cheese. Cheese? We're so comfortable with each other now, too, right? Because I'll come out of the bathroom. I'm like, don't go in there. Nuclear zone. Blast radius wide. We're still going strong. Almost 12 years in.
17:40 That's right, baby. That's right. So you have a lot of time now. Well, not really. I'm filling it up. In fact, I have all these little projects that I'm doing. And that's always who I've been. I do stuff. I tinker. And something all of a sudden works. I spin plates. And so sometimes a plate falls off and breaks. I really want to get the curry caster out there. because so many people want it. Are you going to give it away? Are you going to do value for value? Actually, and that's what we're using right now, by the way, we are on the CurryCaster. So it has, besides the whole podcast preparation and production system, it has a recorder, an editor, and it also has a streaming.
18:30 You can stream with it. Is that your microphone? I hear the little crackle. Do you hear it? Well, it's not. Yeah, it's my phone. Yeah. Well, don't worry about it. Okay. No one hears it but me and you. Oh, okay. But the main thing is it replaces this thing called clean feed, which you use to have multiple guests on. Yes. And clean feed costs like $36 a month. So I'm like, well, you can get the Currycaster and then, you know, you get. For $29.99? No, I was going to do $9.99 because I'm like, yeah. Dude, we need an income. I mean, 1999, we just changed the pricing, everybody. So how many people use it now?
19:11 Is it one? Oh, you. Darren O'Neill is going to be the beta tester for Mac because it works on Mac, Windows, Linux. And I think it's fantastic. I mean, it has everything you want. All you need to do is have a microphone, some headphones, and you're good to go. But you can also hook up a mixer to it and get all fancy. And, you know, so, you know, basically people should be able to, maybe people just use it for free. But if they want to use the guest feature, they pay for it. I don't really care. It's so easy. Someone could look at this and say, hey, robot, make this. And they could remake it. But having the server for the guests, you know, you need a server for that. And so that's worth something.
19:53 So maybe, I don't know. There's a lot of requests for it. So, you know, I'm all for subscription revenue. you're definitely a visionary too so that's good not according to everybody but that's another story that's another story if you know you know um so you you said the other day that you're a master procrastinator by admission and you think that's you feel like that's changing at all now that you i'm getting better yeah because i saw you out there doing the pool you got your passport renewed like you're getting stuff your studio is still a disaster Well, yeah, that's going to take a look. I've got to figure out what to do with stuff because I've got books and Bibles and...
20:36 Wires. The wires in here. There's wires and those two servers. I want to put it in the server cabinet. So there's a lot of stuff that has to be done. You've got a lot going on now. Honestly, the Muse robot, as I start to give it more access and knowledge, has really been helpful. It nags me about stuff. and it said, look, you have an hour here. You should really do the pool. No, seriously? Yes, and this is exactly, oh, there's Dana Brunetti. He's calling you? Yeah, hold on. You want to bring him in on the show? Okay, he's not. Hey, Dana, we're doing Curry and the Keeper. I got to call you back later. Oh, shit.
21:16 Leap that out. Leap that out. Oh, it's a family show. I'll call you later, okay? You're on the show. I'll call you later. Bye. Okay. He has his show tonight. oh he does with rob yeah um where was i yeah i mean i think i told you that i used to have ken ken clark was my assistant when i left mtv and i started on ramp which later became think new ideas and later think new ideas i had this fabulous assistant barry barry was just the one that stole from you no that was andrew oh andrew was the driver okay no barry was barry was just phenomenal. And, you know, he was like, hey, boss, he was like, hey, boss. And he, you know, you could just say, okay, I got to get this done, that done. And he said, okay, well, how about this then and then we'll do it here and move it around. I could say three words and he would reschedule, would understand it. And that's kind of what my muse robot is doing for me now.
22:10 And I'm just saying, hey, look, this is important. I really have to do this. Like I said, send a text message to Johanna. I got to get my hair done before we go on vacation or before we go to New York for Thanksgiving. It's not really a vacation. And okay, here's the options. I said, all right, draft a text message, send that to Johanna. Here's what I want you to say, because I still want to sound like me. And so it's waiting for the reply and it's doing things. And that's really helping because yes, I'm a procrastinator. Really, I just want to sit inside this studio all day tinkering with stuff. You know, I get the stuff that I have to do, like show prep and all that. I get it done, but I'm doing other things. Like, I wonder how this would work. I wonder if that will work. This is how podcasting came to be.
22:52 Yes. This is just who I am. Yeah. You know, and so, yes, I'm a total procrastinator. Yes. I think Pastor Jimmy said he's also a procrastinator on that show where we discussed it. Oh. So, you know, you need to talk to Damonette about this. And you guys, where's your show with Annette? That's what I'm waiting for. I'm not a procrastinator. Oh, no kidding. There's a list. I'm a taskmaster. You're a list. I'm Quadrant II. We've talked about this in previous Curry and the Keeper episodes. and I get things done. You said something important the other day after we had a little bit of words about something. About you not doing the book. Obviously, whatever it was I had not done. And you said, I just have to learn that I am not in control of you.
23:34 I am not in control of everything. And I am different since I do this. I have my list and I strike things off the list. Also, you know, sometimes in the morning you are insanely out of your mind because you're looking at your list trying to back everything into the timing. I gotta do this, this, this I wanna walk, I wanna go to the gym and I have to do this, I have to do that and I have lunch with that but I have to go there to write the newsletter and then your brain I can see it like like a turbine spinning Is it smoking? Yeah, and it's like I'm gonna live longer than you This is obvious I'm gonna live so much I hope so I hope so Only because you don't want to deal with the Bitcoin I don't know the passwords You have all the passwords I don't have the passwords I told you where they are You know where they are You know who to call Anyway, but you're right I cannot control you.
24:19 But if I need something done, all I have to do is give you a note. Post-it note. A post-it note. Post-it note. And you take care of it. I do. Yeah. I'm pretty good at it. You take care of it. Yeah. But it's like, so yeah. Working with, so Tina is part of the team now. She's- Oh, I have a full-time job now. Yes. Almost a full-time job. Well- I like when Annette turned to me when we were talking about ordering something for We Get to Do This. And she said, the four of us were standing. She goes, well, you know, you're the only one that doesn't have a job. Pow, slam. Right. Bam. Like, oh, I felt it in my back. Oh, yeah. The knife, the blade. How deep was it? It's true, though. No, but so you're doing marketing for We Get to Do This.
25:00 And which, I mean, we're going to go to two shows a week, which means I can't wait for the Sunday newsletter you're going to have to do. Because we're going to go to Monday and Thursday. I have to do shows. I have to do newsletters on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday. Because I have to do Curry and the Keeper. And the church newsletter. That's once a month, though. And actually, writing a newsletter is not as simple as people think it is. And so, you know, you turn within it. I wonder what it was like to actually work with you at Ronald McDonald House. Because, man, it's okay. I need your... Be careful. I need your topics for the next show.
25:40 So we just put it in the group chat. And, you know, I put in my topics. Incomplete sentences, I might add. puts in his topics. Jimmy sends complete sentences. And then you just get like, it's so inconsistent. I don't know. I'm like, no, that's not how it went. That's exactly. What do you mean by this? Well, I said, can you give me some more context? You go, I don't want to, because I don't want to give it away. And I'm like, but I don't understand what you're saying. And I said, let me go write a paragraph. And you're like, go write it. You can't write. You can't write that paragraph. I'll write it. But I'll do anything you want me to. I am your slave. Tell me what you want me to do. I want you to not write it.
26:20 Well, what do you want for the next side? Just give me bullet points. I'll be fine. I was not like that. That's the way I heard it. That's exactly how I heard it. I just wanted a little context, and you were pushing back on me. But the way you ask it in professional Tina mode, and it's frightening. It's like, oh, man, that marketing chick is nuts. I ain't better to do it right next time because I don't want to hear that. That's what I'm talking about. That was like yesterday when I said people, because I popped on Twitter momentarily. I just wanted to see what was happening with the end of No Agenda and only looking at you. I'm not looking at anybody else. And I popped on and I saw somebody when that whole Learjet thing happened.
27:02 And somebody was saying, oh my gosh, Adam's not here to deconstruct it. And I asked you, are you going to talk about it on We Get to Do This? And you said, yeah, I go, I think you need to put something on X and move people toward we get to do this. And you're like, no, I'm not going to do that. I ain't going to do that. And you pushed back on me. And then you ended up doing it. And it was like, and what happened? Oh, you were so right. Hello? Yeah. I came into the bathroom and said, hello, marketing department. Can I show you what I put on the X? So this marketing chick actually worked for your benefit. I know you do. Again, I wish you were available when I needed a marketing person for my company.
27:43 Yes. Because no one is as good as you. Nobody. Well, you're supposed to say that. You're my husband. No, it's the truth. I said that before I even kissed you. Oh, you did. I said, I wish I could have had you working at my company when we needed marketing. Yes. I said that because that was true. And that was one of the attractive qualities. And you liked my shoes. Yes, I did. That was one of the attractive qualities, and now it's like a nightmare. The moral of the story, kids, be careful what you wish for. You might just get it. It's not that bad. No, it's not. But it's just fun to see you switch, like Jekyll and Hyde, marketing lady.
28:25 I'm passionate about my work. Yes, you are. Speaking of, so yes, I do the marketing for We Get to Do This. I say that loosely. Don't put the title in because the assets, they come from this and they got to post them. You got to use, be consistent, consistent with the imagery. I've loosened up with that. I've loosened up with that. A little bit. Hey, it's working, isn't it? Oh, no. Of course it is. So now, in addition to marketing, I'm also product designer, fulfillment and shipping, just like with Curry and the Keeper. Yes. And so if you subscribe to the We Get to Do This newsletter, you'll see what I'm talking about.
29:08 But I'm in need of a woodmaker, a woodworker. I need somebody to make me something. And so anybody, I think Sketchy Cuts was out there who made. It could be a lot of them. It could be like, you know, tens of them. Yeah, but that's okay. It's not a huge job. And we'll pay the woodworker. Of course. I need a woodworker. I know Sketchy Cuts was. Was that Eridudarians? Sir Eridudarian also did woodwork. He did one of our. didn't he do one of our cutting boards i think yes and turns out to be a believer didn't know it hey hey he decloaked the other day uh ken at hickory forge too he was the one that made the chessboard for uh for willing oh yeah yes boy that thing is still people still comment on it when i'm playing chess people like where'd you get that just is that from here is that from java ranch i don't think so and i always have to carry it back to his car because the thing weighs eight tons oh does it it's so nice because it has scripture on it too it has uh uh the horse prepares for the battle no the horse prepares for war but the battle no the horse prepares for battle but the victory belongs to the lord oh nice yeah that's it yeah sir brian had a hand in that so that was really nice so yeah so i have an almost full-time job now between we get to do this and curry no it's real it's real yeah the pain is real people yeah i i can do it i can do it you And fitting in, you know, lunches in the gym.
30:29 And I'm full schedule. And so this morning for the first time in a long time, you were up before me. I know. I know. I was like, darn, I got to make the coffee? I mean, I literally would be waking up at five, you know, six, all before my alarm. And yes, this is my point. You made the coffee. And so just as I'm coming out, ding, the hot water's done. I pour it in. We have identical coffee press. Identical. Yes. Identical coffee presses. I fill up yours. I fill up mine, give you mine. I, and actually I press mine down like, Oh, that went easy. And then, uh, and then after about 10 minutes you say, um, I think I have your coffee and now you drink decaf and I drink black rifle supercharged. I didn't know it because we literally put the coffee cans in next to each other in a different order i have mine always on the left yours always on the right and you why do you do that because i'm left-handed why wouldn't you put mine on the left you're not around it doesn't matter it's my system okay but from now on i'll do it the proper way it doesn't matter but that i was i was like wow that's really interesting but as soon as i put my uh heavy whipping cream in my coffee i'm like yeah it's still kind of black because it's mud it's literally the horseshoe floats.
31:50 So I tasted it. I'm like, this is not my coffee. Yeah. So you only had one hair on my chest. You only, it does. You only had one sip. That's all. Oh yeah. I would have been buzzing because I haven't had caffeinated coffee in two years, two plus years. Unless like one time at the restaurant where they gave you caffeinated, you were up all night. Like boing, boing, boing, boing, boing, boing, boing. Let's play a game. There was one time when I went, I went to a coffee shop and met somebody for coffee and then I met Brandy at a store on Main Street, and I was trying something on, and my hand was shaking. And she says, why is your hand shaking? Like, oh my gosh, they gave me caffeinated coffee. Oh, that's funny. So let's talk about the big, big thing that's happened to us.
32:33 Besides, you know, you leaving. Oh, you mean Cleo? Cleo. Yes, beautiful, beautiful Cleo. Our granddaughter. It's not Cleo, it's Cleo. Yes. Because Cleo is a car in Holland, right? The Renault Cleo. I think that's the follow-up to the Renault 5. So it's not even a great car. She's a great, precious little girl. Yes, she is. Yes. So Adam and I, a lot of things happen. So we were in Holland three times over a three-month period. Yeah. We were there in May. We were there in July. And we went back after the baby was born. And while we were there, we got to participate in Christina's reality show.
33:17 which was now just so people understand in 2000 i want to say 2003 maybe well christina was 11 12 so that's 2002 2002 yeah um actually this is one of these crap i need to make money because uh well there was a whole irs thing and lawsuit and literally they froze all bank accounts they later unfroze it wasn't my wasn't i did nothing wrong but that never when you did nothing wrong it turns out you're you're right that shows up on page 26 so it was front page you know curry this and that and like we need money and i knew this guy greg johnson he had done the osborne show and i i contacted said well how'd that come about and he said i just had some extra camera time just It's literally one camera.
34:09 It was so easy to do. I'm like, well, I can do that. So I sold a reality show to a big TV broadcaster and that made everything possible for over a year until all the things got solved And there was no saying was like you know there was no saying no to me it like christina we gonna be in this reality show what if i don want it well do you like eating do you like any of that um and so after that we only did one season and i have all the rights locked it all up you know it never re-aired or anything like that and but all these other famous Dutch families started to do reality shows. So it became a whole genre unto itself. And then the children started doing 25 years later. And of course they approached Christina moreover because she was pregnant and you know, all of our lives had changed. And so they decided like, let's do the show. And we stupidly said, okay. And the kids can have our share of the money.
35:10 How dumb are we? How dumb are we? Like the kids can have our share of the money for the granddaughter. and the granddaughter the granddaughter new york new york we still got a daughter in new york in brooklyn yes and is she still in brooklyn yes yeah she just moved to brooklyn she's in uh what's the where is it i don't know brooklyn somewhere yeah it's the famous it's a famous part of brooklyn come on i don't know you're talking about elise yeah i don't know what part of this it'll come to me um and and and so that included some filming here yes which i knew look I'm a ratings bonanza I know how to do these things so first I had you know Luke Luke Coffey follow me in the car I'm like singing along to worship music raising my hands in the car like this the Dutch will go nuts over this then Pastor Jimmy and I a little bit of the podcast we pray first and then I'm in the church talking about you know I'm sitting in the sanctuary you know there's no one on the stage on the stage yeah talking about our faith and all these different things and to you know this church is so well protected there's more women armed than men and i pull out my gun you know it's like okay and then they cut to me shooting texas whiskey bottles with every piece of of armor i have in the arsenal you brought all your guns all of them like i'm like matrix shooting i got shotguns you know all this stuff and that made the dutch people crazy. The television,
36:40 there were talk shows talking about like, well, he's into the Lord, but look, he has guns. How does it fit together? Have you read the First and Second Amendment? You might want to check those out in our Constitution. You might understand where it comes from. I know you love that. You love that it riled them. Of course. But the fun thing was making it, because you really, you've only seen reality shows. Now you got to be a part of one. Yes. How real are these reality shows? They're so real. So real. So real. So often, many times, well, there was one scene, I think it was in the second episode, where we took Christina to the baby store. Yes. And so, of course, I walk in, and it's all this adorable little, and we already knew she was having a baby girl, even though they did the gender reveal.
37:24 And we had to act like we didn't know. But I started looking at all these cute little outfits, and they would say to me, Dina, Dina, can you do that again? Can you do that again? Can you sound surprised again? Yes, yeah. Tina, can you put it in the basket again? The only thing that was real, the only thing was, well, actually two things. When we first came, the first time in May, we saw Christina and she actually had the big bump. Yeah. And then when we actually saw the baby for the first time, that was real. Yeah, it was very real. Yeah. Well, also when the rice caught on fire in the kitchen, which they wound up not even using that much of. That was so funny too. But yeah, everybody wanted to capture the scene of you and Patricia seeing each other for the first time in a decade or more.
38:08 And you could see what they did. They edited it. So it looked like we kept looking. Yeah, like we were whispering each other's ear. We kept looking. And then voiceover, Adam is very nervous that Patricia is coming. And it wasn't the case at all. But I will say the production was very respectful. It was very, very nice. They did a great job. Yes, they did. They did a good job. It was just fun for the country to see because that first Adams family. Oh, you were in your castle. Castle. You were drinking wine out of gold goblins. Helicopters, the whole deal. So like over the top. Awesome. Over the top awesome. It was a good time. Yes. And now we're just, you know, we're humble. So we were watching, you had brought all the DVDs of Adams family from 2002.
38:55 So we were watching some of them. And it was really interesting to see you so young. Yeah, I hear it. I don't know what it is. I'm not sure. Hold on a second. What is this? This is annoying. Something's hitting something. I'm not touching anything. No, it's not your fault. Ever. Nothing's ever your fault. How's that? Let's try that. Should I get it closer? How about that? No, you just touched it. Well, I had to move it closer or else I'd be hovering over your screen. Move it a little closer to you. It should be better now. How's that? I think it's the way. It's good. Yeah, it sounds bad. Much better. Anyway, it was, you looked pretty cute back when you were young. Right away, Tina's like, I think you could let your hair grow a little longer.
39:36 After she's like, you got to keep it short, shave it up in the back, shorter on the sides. And, you know, I'm just like, okay. Okay. Okay. Whatever you say, honey. That's good. I'm Al Bundy. I was like, let that grow out a little bit more. Yeah. Go a little blonder. Yeah. A little blonder. Yeah. Put this on. Try out these shoes. anyway but yes we are so blessed by this baby girl we are just what i love is that you you even though she's not your blood you still consider her your granddaughter and christina is so so into the fact that you are gg you are the i'm not grandma i'm gg but she says tina is her oma she is her oma and we have a call every sunday yeah you know facetime and you know the toothless wonder the kid looks at me and goes and then you come into the shots like yeah but she was what seven weeks when we saw her yes and um not doing much but eating and pooping yes but i could get her to sleep like nobody's business seconds i could get her to sleep but But you did, so it was so wonderful for us because we did, we were like grandparents.
40:52 We stayed at the hotel, so we were not in their face. And then, you know, Marriott, okay. It was okay. Yeah. Smelled bad in that lobby. In the lobby, yeah. And then we'd get in the Uber and go over there. And then you were helping Christina clean up and you were Marie Kondo-ing the whole thing. Yeah. And I was taking care of the baby for hours. Yeah. You know, getting her, I changed the diaper once or twice. I was showing her how to vape. You know, she's like, oh, that's cool. That's cool, Grandpa. What is that smoke? It was so funny when you were- What is that smoke? It's like, get out of my face, Grandpa. But when you were changing the diaper and I was standing there watching you, you're like, I'm nervous.
41:33 Don't be standing over watching me. I'm nervous. I need to get back into the vibe of it, man. It takes me a couple minutes. I did okay. I did okay. But I mean, it breaks my heart that we haven't seen her because I don't want her to forget us. Yeah. Well, everybody says that the FaceTime is really important. Yes, yes. And so when she sees us, she won't be like, who are these people? She'll be like, okay, oh, yeah, I remember them. Yeah. So hopefully in January. We're waiting for the midterm elections. It's today. It's today. So we have no predictions. And hopefully after the midterms, everything will settle down, we hope. Yeah. We hope, yeah, because airfare is crazy.
42:13 Prices will go down. Crazy. It is truly nuts. Crazy. And yeah, exactly. Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, what a joy. What a joy. So we'll have plenty of baby updates from the road. Oh, yeah. Yeah, for sure. And Christina is such a chill mom. She's so chill. She's like, you want to hold a baby? Hold a baby. Like some new moms are like, you got to put a mask on and gloves and a hazmat suit and then you can touch my baby. Oh, you vaxxed. There's a lot of, yeah, I know. Yeah. Yeah, it's crazy. I have to say another highlight that happened, at least for me, was I gave my testimony at the church in May. It was so good. And, you know, I only recorded a little bit of it. Just the opening. Yeah, because I wanted to be present.
42:55 Right, of course. You could have set up a tripod, but it's okay. You know, it's like the church is filled with cameras. Because so many people ask me, like, was it recorded? Was it recorded, yeah. But I think it's probably better it wasn't. Yeah. You know, maybe you'll do it again in the future. Yeah. It was just so, by the way, it's just nice. Our weekend, this past weekend was so wonderful. Not having no agenda on Sunday? Well, Saturday. Oh, we had a day date, which I planned. Thank you. Yes, you're welcome. We went to Calibans. And we know the owners because they live in our subdivision. As soon as they see us, they start feeding us cheese and wine. They're like, here, try this. And they had a winemaker from Bordeaux. And he's like, let me try some of my wine.
43:38 And we're like, hey, this is good. He's talking about his grapes. And come to Bordeaux. You can stay at the winery. Yes, just stay at the house. At the vineyard. No problem. And then Sunday, we got up and we went to service. And then after that, we had brunch with Chris and Brandy. And I was like, well, this is incredibly cool. I know. I sat on the couch. I know. And you were a lump all day. It's a lot less taxing than I thought it would be. It really is. And this Sunday we're going to the later service. We're going to brunch with Pastor Jimmy and Annette. Yes. Yeah. So your Sundays are free. Free. But you've got to do some prep, though, for Monday.
44:18 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because you're starting earlier. Yeah, 10 o'clock. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. So you are kind of working. The pastor apparently has his job. It's not just Sunday. Oh, that's right. He's got a job. It turns out that running a church business takes a lot of work. He's got a job. Yeah, he does. That's right. So I did want to say a few things. Oh. Just a few things I wrote down. Oh, Warren. There was a... And this has definitely been a... As we say in Christianese, this has been a season for us. I have that too. The season we've been in. This has been a season. Meaning we've been fighting like cats and dogs. There has been some moments. And I remember...
44:58 I don't remember exactly what it was, but you were spinning up and spinning out. and I went and I went to you and I said, can I please pray over you? And you went, no, you can't pray over me. I have no time for this. I'm in my bra. There's no praying. No praying in this house at this moment. And I went and I turned around and went, well, you can't stop me from praying for you in my studio. I'll just go sit here and pray for you. That was actually. That was fabulous. I knew, I'm like, I wish we were doing Curry in the Keeper. And so I wrote it down in my forever eternal diary. I know, I know, I know. We had just gotten back from Holland the day before.
45:42 I was getting ready for my birthday lunch at Brandy's. That's what it was. And we were getting a deluge of rain. And Brandy was stressed out. I was worried about her. And I had suggested that maybe we should cancel. And she got upset with me and said, okay. It wasn't even me. That's right. This wasn't even me. And so she got upset. She said, fine. I'll just pack up all the food and give it to the homeless people. And I was like, no, no, I'm just worried about, anyway, it was a miscommunication. But I was all, I was just riled up and I was trying to get ready. And I was standing there with my jeans and my bra on in the kitchen. And you came to me like, darling, can I just pray with you? I was not having it.
46:23 I'm not perfect. I'm far from perfect. No, oh, but it's okay because literally I'm like, I walk, seriously, I'm like, well, you can't stop me. I'm going to pray here. I prayed for you. And then I went, and then the Holy Spirit told me, write this down. I'm not sure what you will need it for. Holy Spirit. You've been holding on to that since July. Oh, there's another one, but I'll let you go next because I'm sure you have a list. No, no, no, I don't. It's just been the season we've been in with all of the changes. But without God. Oh, for sure. Without Jesus in the middle of our relationship, man, I know I would have backed out of the garage with the door closed. Yes, because you had even said to me, I said, we were having a heated discussion about something.
47:11 And I said, the enemy is all over us. And you go, no, the enemy is in you. Only you. And then you repented for that. And I remember texting Annette. He told me that the enemy is in me. See, you're not perfect. No. Oh, far, far from it. That was a good one. I'm like, no, no. I can see him. He's on you, not me. I'm holy over here. This is you. I got like, halo, halo. But how quickly did these things resolve? Yes, and we're sitting here laughing about them.
47:51 where the enemy has no power, no authority. Turns out he's actually very weak. Once you realize it, then it's like, oh, okay. And that actually turns out to be a pretty good thing to say in an argument. It's like, hey, this is the enemy. Yeah. Because it stops both of us. Like, yeah, you're right. So let's just, and we reflect on it, and then usually pretty quickly things just calm down. And we don't hold on to them. No, you especially don't. I don't hold on to them. No, I'm still holding on to all kinds of stuff.
48:34 Good times, good times, Mr. Curry. Well, what's nice is, you know, because of course our faith journey, and more Christianese, our faith journey has continued. As we walk down the narrow path. To the gate. Towards the gate. the gate to the gate to the climate gate to the east gate um we literally reject stuff so our tv watching oh my gosh has changed we were watching the west wing which is really for well of course it's from uh late late late 90s to early 2000s um there's no profanity there's it started a little bit towards the end but not anything there's you know there's not it's not vulgar it's you know it's kind of funny enough a lot of what is done and said is exactly what president trump is saying out in the open you know i guess people don't like hearing that out in the open um so that was relatively tame um and the other night we were because we were waiting for the gilded age to come back uh which we just love we really like period pieces we really like it we've watched them all yeah we have and um and and so we're kind of waiting for that and then we will i think we tried four different things and like no and let's put another one let's try this no no and it's just whatever it was it was violent or was huge i mean explicit profanity which i just i
50:05 can't stand i can't stand it anymore it seems so unnecessary it is unnecessary at least for me I mean, I don't have friends that speak like that anymore. I just don't. Even my family members don't speak like that. But when you hear it on television- We don't speak like that. But when we hear it on television, it's jarring. It's jarring. But yeah, so now we're settled into, we're Hardee's now. We are Hardee's, everybody. When Calls the Heart. Jimmy and Annette have watched it. I think they're going into their fourth time. There's 13 seasons. well they're making the 14th it's still going this thing i had no idea um it started out kind of cheesy i must say it's super cheesy but that's kind of it's it's we're in the second season it's better yeah that's kind of the nicety of it is i mean i'm i'm literally like okay the guy's gonna have a peg leg watch out like we make our commentary which is kind of funny commentary is great but But it's fun.
51:07 It's romantic. It's old school. It is a period piece by definition, 1910. But there's a reason why there's 14 seasons, because people are kind of craving this kind of content. I'm craving it. You know, because we started watching, what was it, The Gentleman? I couldn't watch it. And you went to Indiana to see your mom and sister. I told you I can watch this anymore It too violent And I finished it just to finish and when I finished I like I really wish I hadn seen all that And it not the guy Richie his violent scenes to me are humorous And I kind of see the humor in it, but it actually went down a dark biblical path.
51:49 Even I'm like, holy, I sound like Jonah now. I'm like, I'm like, like, like, like, I got to help Jonah with that. It just went down this path. Like, no, no, I don't need to see this. that was really a it closed the door for me ah yeah i'm done with this i've it's just it's not interesting the diplomat you know is a political thriller they cuss a lot though too but i they do there wasn't a lot of um but the story and everything although i'm a little wary of it now because now i'm kind of seeing a very like anti-conservative bent coming on that's what you said yeah oh yeah we'll see we'll see with the next season with the season finale yeah it feels like there's political messaging going on so we'll have to see if i like it but yeah when calls the heart we're hardy's we're hardy i guess there's a whole movement out there we didn't even know no well we're about to find out after this show people will go whoa yeah come to the meetup yeah yeah exactly you're gonna go as elizabeth i'll be jack i gotta get my mountain house costume yeah i we're not going that far no no we're not no we're not anyway all right you want to do god No, one more thing.
52:58 Oh, one more thing. Yes, one more thing. This was a personal win for me. Okay. You're saving all the good stuff for one show. So I have hearing aids. Wow, man, it's so irritating. I'm so sorry, babe. I don't know what it is. I mean, you're moving the desk. Is it mine, maybe? Well, I'm trying not to touch the desk. I'll hold this. I don't think that's it. Well, we'll figure it out for the next show. So, you know, but also in the mornings, I'm, you know, I'm doing my Bible, my Bible, I'm doing devotionals.
53:38 I'm, you know, texting. You're usually up before me. I am. Yeah. And then you, you said something about an email that had come in and I said, I don't remember that. And you said, and you went, yes, you just read that to me. And I'm like, what? and then you said this is how it begins because you were like i did i don't remember i said adam you read it to me this is how it begins you said which you said kind of kind of jokingly but a little bit like this is the end brother this is it buddy you are deteriorating right before my very eyes and i just and of course i'm like well i guess i did but i said but i just opened my email how could I have read that to you? You just read that to me.
54:26 Oh, okay. I'm sorry. And then maybe five minutes later, what did you say? Oh. I said, Oh, I read it to myself. It's time for Tina's God Shop. All righty, everybody. Here it is, Tina's God shot. Good times, good times. I do want to say that I've been reading the whole Bible this entire year through the Bible recap. Hello, Bible readers. Good morning. It's Tara Cobel. Tara Lee Cobel.
55:09 And we are now in the Gospels. But I have to give a shout out to Donna Crawford because she sent us the Bible knowledge commentary from the Old Testament and the New Testament. And I have that right by my side because it gives you more information about the scripture. And it does include the Holy Spirit, too, which I'm really happy about because there's some that don't acknowledge the Holy Spirit. But anyway, thank you, Donna. I've been using that diligently. Oh, yeah. You're like a student, man. You're like here, over here. Oh, you're watching me in the morning? Yeah. Oh, okay. I'm like, I got to do this. Are you going to do Tara Lee Cobel? First, I'm going to finish my book. That's this month.
55:49 The book is getting finished this month, which means it'll still have to go through reviews, and you've got to help me with that, and people have got to read it and figure out what's going on. The book is going to be completed. Adam Curry, Decloaked, I think is the working title. Okay, I like it. I like it a lot. It's going to be good. Yes, I like it. But getting back to my God shot. Yes, but now back to you. Back to me. Back to me, Bob. But, you know, I'm watching you, like, be called to do something for the kingdom and watching you with all these new projects and watching you get excited about it. And I'm sitting here comparing myself to you and not feeling like I'm of any value.
56:30 Like, because I once had a career. I talked to Annette about this, too. I once had a career. And I think my career was my identity, you know. and thus an idol. And now, yeah. And now I don't really have a career. I mean, I have skills, but I don't have a full-time job. And so I was feeling like not valuable. And I remember when Julie was here on Tuesday and I said, I have no value. And she said, you know, that's the enemy talking. You have a lot of value. And so in those many moments that I felt like I wasn't making a difference. I had to remember that I had to yield to the source of our life and strength, and that's the Holy Spirit. I had to get out of myself. And I wrote down here, when I understand the power I have received and the guidance he gives through the Spirit, I can be inspired and have the confidence to make a real difference. And that's what I have to do.
57:27 I have to keep my eyes on him and take it off of myself. And so then I was led to this scripture. And this is a part of our rooted Bible study that I'm doing with Annette. It's Ephesians 2, verse 10. We are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. And what I'm doing right now, supporting you with We Get to Do This, supporting you so that you could be successful in all your endeavors, doing Curry and the Keeper, doing stuff— Godcaster. Godcaster. Well, doing things for the church, the newsletter, and the women's ministry. he has planned all of that too and it's for him and i am valuable you are yeah so you are i had to be reminded of that though because i was feeling kind of like oh i'm doing nothing i do laundry that's also very valuable yes i know for you it is i want to point that out so but yeah i mean i had to you know it's really hard when you have to look in the mirror and you become convicted about something like oh and i know exactly why i idolized my profession because it gave me the attention that I so needed from trauma.
58:35 You had a couple of switches that you threw in your mind and in your spirit that make all the difference. Because, you know, I know you. This is back to the F word. I can see, like, okay, she's not happy. Is everything okay? I'm fine. No, she's not. And there's nothing I can do that can change that. you know i it's very frustrating because i just want you to be happy and you want to fix it of course and i know i can't and i know i shouldn't um but like these even these past few days it's like tina's back yeah tina's back yeah because god god told me give it to him give it to him lay it at his at his feet and i did that and a peace that surpasses all understanding and what What I find so wonderful is that when you have God in common and Jesus in your marriage, it's so much easier to talk about these things.
59:40 I think people get stuck and they can't discuss things, but you can use your faith and use Jesus to begin to talk about these things. Yes. But actually to talk about them. It's so good. I know. So if you're Christ curious, give it a shot. Yeah, exactly. What do you got to lose? Now it's time to hear from the Cork Sockers. Yeah, the Cork Sockers are still here. We got to hear from those Cork Sockers now. What did you say? What did you say? Now it's time to hear from the Cork Sockers.
1:00:22 That's right, Curry and the Keeper. That's right. Now more important than ever is a value for value podcast. All we want you to do is if you get value out of the show, send it back to us.
